BELLEVILLE AFFORDABLE HOUSING

Sagonaska Place was born from the collective vision of housing developer Summers & Co and three First Nations communities: Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte, Garden River First Nation, and Missanabie Cree First Nation. Designed to provide affordable, off-reserve housing for both the Indigenous population and the Belleville area, Sagonaska Place aims to address the pressing housing needs within the region due to the Canadian housing crisis.

Missanabie Cree First Nation is constructing an emergency evacuation center on their traditional lands through their Indigenous-led emergency response organization ISN Maskwa.

Our work not only deals with the evacuations of our fellow First Nation communities, whether it is flooding or fire threats, we also respond to other types of crises like suicide epidemics, and water contamination.
